Tile Help & Information

1. How Much Tile Do I Need? (tile calculator at top of page)

Step 1 – Measure
Length (ft) × Width (ft) = total square feet

Step 2 – Add Overage

Standard layouts: add 10%

Herringbone / angles / large-format: add 15%

Step 3 – Convert to Boxes
Final sq ft ÷ “sq ft per box” (shown on each product)
→ Round up to the next full box.


2. Installation Guidelines

Always follow manufacturer instructions and consult a licensed installer. These are general guidelines only.

Grout Joints

Porcelain / ceramic: approx. 1/8"–3/16"

Rectified tile: minimum 1/16"

Mosaics: follow the sheet pattern

Thinset / Mortar

Porcelain: modified thinset

Large-format tile: LFT mortar (large-format tile mortar)

Natural stone: white thinset recommended

Mosaics: bright white thinset to avoid shadowing

Where to Use

Porcelain: floors, walls, showers (check product specs)

Ceramic: walls; floors only if rated

Mosaics: excellent for shower floors and accents

Natural stone: suitable with proper prep, waterproofing, and sealing

3. Care & Maintenance

Porcelain & Ceramic

No sealing needed

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners

Avoid harsh chemicals and scouring pads

Marble & Natural Stone

Seal before and after installation as recommended

Use stone-safe, pH-neutral cleaners

Avoid vinegar, lemon, or acid-based products

Expect natural markings and patina over time

Mosaics

Remove grout haze promptly per installer’s instructions

Use soft cloths or non-abrasive sponges

Vinyl & Wood-Look Flooring

Sweep or vacuum regularly

Damp mop with pH-neutral cleaner

Avoid standing water and steam mops

Use felt pads under furniture


4. Color Variation & Natural Stone Disclaimer

Variation Levels (V1–V4)

V1: Very uniform

V2: Slight variation

V3: Moderate variation between pieces

V4: High / dramatic variation

Check the variation rating on each product before ordering.
